With more than 42,000 members nationwide, the AARC is the only professional society for respiratory therapists in hospitals and with home care companies, managers of respiratory and cardiopulmonary services, and educators who provide respiratory care training.

Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care

The mission of the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), in collaboration (CAAHEP), is to promote quality respiratory therapy education through accreditation services.

National Board for Respiratory Care

The National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc. (NBRC) is a voluntary health certifying board which was created in 1960 to evaluate the professional competence of respiratory therapists. A group of Chicago physicians and therapists recognized the need to formalize the training and registration of practitioners involved in the care and support of patients with respiratory disorders.

The Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy

The Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy has the responsibility for creating, establishing, maintaining, and enforcing regulations governing the operation of respiratory therapists and the safety and quality of respiratory therapy services for the protection of the public.
